Over a decade ago, the three partners of Thrive met at Georgia State University as graduate students in the department of Clinical Psychology. We were taught and supervised by senior psychotherapists with a deep respect for humanistic, psychodynamic and interpersonal approaches to therapy, while receiving cutting-edge training from experts in the fields of cognitive-behavioral and family systems therapy, among other therapeutic orientations.  Atlanta and its surrounding counties provided a rich training ground for exposure to diverse populations, both culturally and clinically.

Drs. Blandino and Bender both completed their internships at Emory University, and Dr. Bliss completed hers at the Medical College of Georgia and Veterans Affairs Health System in Augusta. We all received postdoctoral training at Emory University, began individual private practices upon licensure, and have worked in various locations around metropolitan Atlanta.  Along with several other therapists, we formed a peer supervision group and have served as consultants to one another for years.  Each of us continues to receive ongoing training and education, both to refine and expand our knowledge and expertise, as well as to offer supervision and consulting services to other therapists.

Thrive Center for Psychological Health was founded in 2010 and emerged from a shared vision: to establish a unique psychotherapy practice that focuses on actualizing a person’s strengths through an interactive and collaborative process of self-discovery and change.  Our practice, in honor of our strong sense of community, is located in the heart of one of our favorite neighborhoods, downtown Decatur.

We are now offering therapy services to individuals, couples, and families. We reach out to those who may be feeling uneasy about coming to therapy, and we pride ourselves on our warm and “down-to-earth” approach. Our shared philosophy and commitment to our clients come naturally from our own history with one another as colleagues, partners, and friends.

Please see our individual pages for information about how to contact any of us to discuss your needs and questions.
